Recent Cabinet Meeting for Members of the UAE Wednesday January 9th 2008


UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum chaired a meeting of the UAE Cabinet today. Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The Cabinet reviewed several issues and approved agreements signed with friendly countries.

The Cabinet discussed a system to measure how federal government departments perform in terms of implementing the federal strategy. The proposed performance measurement system will focus on clients' satisfaction with government services.

The Cabinet approved the appointment of the UAE investment board, which will be chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, with Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, as Deputy Chairman. The board members are Khadem Al Qubaisi, Saoud Ba Alawi, Abdul Hamid Saeed, Hashem Al Dabal and Eisa Al Suwaidi.

The Cabinet approved Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi's appointment as Economic Affairs Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Saif Sultan Al Aryani's appointment as Under Secretary to the Foreign Ministry.

The Cabinet approved new organisational structures for the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Energy.

The Cabinet approved the sending of diplomatic representatives to Argentina and Greece. The Cabinet also approved a UAE-Azerbaijan agreement to cooperate in terms of security and a UAE-Uzbekistan agreement to encourage and protect investments.
